7 months old!

On Monday, February 20th, you turned 7 months old.

You are 14lbs, 6oz.  You are rolling all over.  You prefer to roll over and sleep on your tummy.  You can stand while holding on to something.  The other day at the library you started to pull yourself up on the CD rack!  You love to babble.  You do not like to eat a lot of baby food but you have recently been introduced to Cheerios and love trying to pick those up and get them in your mouth.  You would prefer to feed yourself.  You love to grab and touch everything.  You love to chew on tags, strings, and zippers.  You love to grab our glasses off our faces and chew on them.  You still wake up a lot at night, but we are working on that.  :)  You charm everyone you meet with your sweet friendly smile.  You still let everyone and anyone hold you.  You love your puppies even though they are sometimes still not sure about you.  You love to look at yourself in the mirror and talk to and slobber on your "baby friend".  You love to splash in the bathtub and don't even mind the water in your face when I rinse your hair.  You love when mommy sings and dances with you to The Muppets, Sesame Street, and The Beatles.  When Daddy is out of town during the week we listen to The Beatles on the record player almost every night while we eat dinner.  We read "Goodnight Moon" every night before bed.

The other day we went to Loose Park because the weather was beautiful and we sat on quilts and you played and I took your 7 month pictures.

From my iphone:

Quinn's baby dedication

Quinn you were dedicated at Jacob's Well last Sunday, February 19th, the day before you turned 7 months old!  We (your parents and our church community) pledged to raise you in a Christ-like manner and to steward you in your growing faith.  It is to say that "Before you could walk, this community carried you.  Before you could choose Christ, He chose you."

The experience was wonderful.  We stood up before the church surrounded by family and friends.  When Tim came and placed the sign of the cross on your forehead to dedicate you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit you looked up at him and gave him your biggest "classic Quinn" smile with your little tongue out.  I know the Lord's heart was filled with joy at that.  What a blessing you are little girl.

"Dear Heavenly Father,  Together we pray that Quinn's mind will know Your wisdom.  Her eyes will see Your glory.  Her ears will hear Your words.  Her mouth will speak Your truth.  Her heart will be Jesus' home.  Her hands will do Your work.  That her knees would bow only before You, the Lord Our God.  And that her feet would follow You in the way of Jesus all the days of her life."

Quinn's first snow

This is a late post:
Last Monday, February 13th, Quinn experienced her first snow!  I'm such a cool mommy that I bundled her up, bundled myself up, put her in the Ergo, and walked several blocks up to the park with the great sledding hills!!  We met Stephanie and Caleb up there and went sledding!!  Quinn and I went down the hill twice!  It was so fun.  Don't worry, the part of the hill we were on was not very steep.  And Quinn did great!

This is what I've been waiting for!!  I knew that once we had kids we would get to do all kinds of fun stuff again, like trick or treating, sledding, playing in fountains . . . things I could maybe get away with with my college friends but after college couldn't convince Jeff to do with me . . . until now!!  Yay Quinn!  Thanks for keeping your mommy young at heart!

BTW I think the whole process of getting ready to go into the snow lasted much longer than the entire snow experience.  :)

Here are some pics and a video:

Family Fun Day

Last Saturday, Quinn and I took Jeff to the train museum at Union Station.  We parked at Crown Center and walked through the link to Union Station where we looked at the trains, had brunch at Harvey's, and got coffee and a chi latte at Parisi Cafe.  (They have the BEST Chi Lattes made with hand ground spices.)  Then I nursed Quinn while Jeff played Angry Birds on his phone and we walked back.  It was such a wonderful morning!  Our families are in town for Quinn's dedication this weekend and I think we will take them on this same little outing.

Baby Legs

Yesterday for Valentine's Day I made Quinn some "baby legs".  I followed a You Tube tutorial on how to make them (no I didn't just cut the foot off as Jeff thought), I made them with this great little ankle cuff to keep them on her skinny legs.  I was quite proud of myself and plan to make more for her.  I even learned how to use the zig zag setting on the old sewing machine- WITHOUT calling my Gma for help :)

I used a pair of my old socks this time because it was practice but I will buy some cute new socks for the next ones I make and was even thinking about sewing some cute ribbon to the tops.  Hooray for finally fulfilling my need to be crafty during nap time!  Quinn loved them by the way, she was rolling all over the place last night with her new freedom in pants-less range of motion.

On a side note, Jeff has been traveling for work the last few weeks (but home on weekends) so we certainly missed him yesterday for Valentine's Day but he is coming home tonight so yay!  Tomorrow I will make him his favorite meal: goulash.

Food

I love food. My new favorite is pasta with onions, red bell peppers, and grape tomatoes cooked in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The tomatoes "pop" in your mouth and are so yummy! And for Quinn, healthy quinoa and bananas!

I should be sleeping.

You are napping and I should be sleeping as well, but I am not.  My eyes are burning and heavy.  I am very sleep deprived because you, my dear, have not been sleeping well at night.  I don't know what makes this happen, but for days now you have been waking up so much that I just let you sleep in bed with me so that I can quickly nurse you back to sleep and sleep myself.  Except that I don't sleep well with you in the bed because I have to check on you to make sure you are okay and not covered up with a blanket or something.  Daddy and I hate to hear you cry and it seems that you just get more worked up if we don't respond after a few minutes so alas, here we are.  I spend a lot of time trying to figure you out and come up with a solution but Daddy says "Maria, you don't have to fix it, you just have to survive it."  Words of wisdom- I need to stop looking things up of the computer.  Of course Daddy get much more sleep than I do.  :)  I have to remind myself that you are your own little person, 6 months old, utilizing your free will.  You are a mystery sometimes, and I will probably keep trying to figure you out, in every stage, cause that's kind of my job. :)
